How to set up the finAPI bank connection

Connect your business account to ZEP
An administrator connects the business checking account in ZEP under Administration > My Company > Bank Accounts. Signing in to the bank and granting access take place in a separate finAPI window, and ZEP never sees the credentials.
The transactions then appear in open item reconciliation under Billing. There you go through the incoming payments and accept the suggested invoice, assign a different one or set the transaction aside. Only what you confirm is booked.
You can find all setup details in our Help Center.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions and answers about the finAPI bank connection.
Who is the finAPI bank connection suitable for?
The bank connection is suitable for companies that regularly match incoming payments to their own invoices and want to stop searching through bank statements. It is included in ZEP as soon as invoices are created in ZEP.
Which accounts can be connected?
Business checking accounts can be connected. Savings accounts, credit cards and securities accounts are not offered. Matching is done against your outgoing invoices, so open item reconciliation requires invoicing.
Does ZEP see my bank credentials?
No. Sign-in and authorization take place in the finAPI window, which ZEP merely opens. At most, ZEP passes on the IBAN so that finAPI can preselect the right bank. The transactions themselves are stored in your tenant's database, hosted in Germany.
Does ZEP book incoming payments to the invoice automatically?
No. ZEP suggests the matching invoice for every incoming payment and rates the match as Certain, Review or No match. A payment is only booked once you accept the suggestion, individually or in bulk for certain matches. Nothing changes without your confirmation.
How does the finAPI bank connection link my account to ZEP?
An administrator connects the business checking account to ZEP via finAPI. Signing in to the bank takes place in a separate finAPI window, and ZEP never sees the bank credentials. ZEP then shows the account status and balance, and the transactions appear in open item reconciliation.
