Software comparison: ZEP vs clockin
Trial version
Both ZEP Clock and clockin offer a trial version. However, this is 16 days shorter with clockin in comparison and therefore an extensive test is only possible to a limited extent.
Terminal
For a favourable price of €15 per month, the self-produced Time recording terminal can be rented from ZEP. clockin does not offer a terminal for time recording, but is only accessible via the apps and the browser.
Add-on functions
Thanks to the modular structure of ZEP Clock, it is possible to provide a customised solution for the specific requirements of companies of any size for a small additional charge. You only have to pay for the functions and modules that you need. In the case of time recording with clockin, each expansion of the functions is also accompanied by a significantly more extensive licence and is therefore associated with higher costs.
Surcharges
Unfortunately, Clockin does not offer the option of storing customised surcharges, meaning that specific requirements cannot be mapped. ZEP Clock enables a highly customisable setting of surcharges and thus covers every special case.
Time recording, break times
Both ZEP Clock and clockin offer the option of recording working times via the desktop and the corresponding apps. Working hours and break times can be customised in both solutions and the statutory break times are also preset. A real-time overview of hours worked, overtime and hours still to be worked is also available in both systems. Stamping self-defined activities is not possible with clockin time recording. This means that employees' activities can only be tracked to a limited extent and analyses by activity cannot be carried out.
Holiday management
Holiday management is also available for both products. For clockin it is already part of the solution, whereas with ZEP Clock it has to be added for a small surcharge. If the Holiday management is not to be mapped by the software, it does not have to be paid.
A major advantage over clockin is the ability to set up a month-end closing. The administrator can block the booking processes for the desired month at a specific time and thus ensure a clean month-end closing.

ZEP Clock offers a customisable design to integrate the corporate identity into the time recording system.
Reports
Both software solutions offer an automated reporting function. However, this is less pronounced in time recording with clockin.
