How to configure the BambooHR integration
Connect BambooHR with ZEP
You can find the BambooHR integration in ZEP under Administration > Interfaces > Interface Marketplace. Select BambooHR and click “Add” – you will be guided through the booking process automatically. To connect, you need your BambooHR subdomain and an API key from your BambooHR user settings.
Once set up, synchronization runs automatically in the background.

What should I consider when setting up the BambooHR integration?
For the synchronization to translate absences between BambooHR and ZEP correctly, the names of the absence categories must match exactly in both systems – including capitalization. The BambooHR time-off type must correspond exactly to a ZEP absence reason. Unmapped categories are ignored by the synchronization. To transfer time entries, the BambooHR employee ID must also be stored for the corresponding ZEP employees.
Does BambooHR synchronization work in both directions?
Yes, for absences the synchronization works in both directions: absences approved in BambooHR are transferred to ZEP, and absences approved in ZEP are mirrored to BambooHR. Employee master data, however, flows exclusively from BambooHR to ZEP – BambooHR remains the leading system here. Only approved absences are transferred, and synchronization covers a three-year window.
What data is synchronized between BambooHR and ZEP?
